The late Ryuichi Sakamoto was a Japanese musician and composer who has been greatly influenced by nature throughout his life. He first gained recognition as a member of the electronic music group Yellow Magic Orchestra in the 1970s, and has since released numerous solo albums and film soundtracks. Sakamoto's love for nature can be heard in many of his compositions, which often incorporate natural sounds and themes. He has also been an active environmentalist, advocating for the preservation of natural habitats. In 2014, he was diagnosed with throat cancer, which he has attributed to his exposure to radiation during his activism work in Fukushima after the 2011 nuclear disaster. Despite this setback, Sakamoto continues to create music that celebrates the beauty and fragility of the natural world.
